Freightliner and Tarmac have further cemented their relationship

Contract agreed for Freightliner to haul aggregate from four load points in the South West of England to Tarmac construction terminals in the Midlands, East Anglia, London and the South East.

Delivering vital bulk materials

Materials moved include limestone out of Whatley and Bristol, gritstone out of Moreton-on Lugg (Hereford), and recycled steelwork slag out of the Tata works at Port Talbot, using Freightliner’s hopper wagons and a new rake of MWA box wagons.

The contract sees Freightliner running up to 15 trains per week, delivering vital bulk materials, on behalf of Tarmac, for use in regional and national infrastructure projects.

Tarmac is one of the largest private sector users of rail freight transporting around nine million tonnes of construction materials across the UK every year.
