Our specialist maintenance facilities located around the country, provide repair and maintenance of Freightliner traction and rolling stock as well as installation and maintenance of track and infrastructure, ensuring maximum availability and reliability of Freightliner services.
With proven delivery levels, and the highest concentration of Chartered Engineers in the rail freight industry, Freightliner‘s team of in-house experts utilise years of knowledge and experience to diagnose, repair and maintain our traction, rolling stock and infrastructure, which means we can provide best in class services to our customers.
We fully endorse the Government’s campaign to raise awareness and understanding amongst young people of a career in engineering. In support of this, we run an Engineering Apprenticeship Scheme, where our apprentices are trained and get hands-on experience of the mechanical and electrical engineering of locomotives and rolling stock. By investing in our apprentices, we inspire and encourage them to achieve the very best they can for their careers and for the future of our business.
Our wagon maintenance team operate from strategic hubs located throughout the UK, undertaking general wagon repairs across multiple wagon types. This capacity means we can be reliable and cost-efficient which allows us to pass on cost-saving benefits to our customers.
Our maintenance team are able to undertake both mechanical and electrical maintenance services for both diesel and electric locomotives. Operating from main hubs in Leeds, Southampton, Manchester and Crewe; our engineers are also supported by a team of mobile Field Service Engineers strategically located throughout the country undertaking planned maintenance and repairs in the field, maximising locomotive availability.
Our track team carry out track inspections and repairs for all Freightliner locations (UK) and some third-party infrastructure owners. They have the requisite skills and experience to undertake minor track renewal schemes and new track installations. The team has diversified and is also capable of completing re-railing and vehicle lifting tasks.
At our Leeds Vehicle Maintenance Facility, we complete wheel re-profiling services for our traction and rolling stock using our state of the art tyre-turning facility; including locomotives, tampers, wagons and loose wheel sets.
