A vacancy has arisen for a Technician role within Freightliner Manchester.
The successful applicant will be time served or have a minimum NVQ level 3 in an Engineering discipline, ideally with proven fault finding skills. A good understanding of IT will also be required.
Candidates should be capable of working on own initiative without direct supervision and have a high level knowledge of Electrical & Mechanical engineering systems. They should be able to organise and carry out a daily programme of examinations and maintenance checks and be competent in assessing asset condition, capable of carrying out repairs and maintenance, and have the ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics.
You will have the ability to work as part of a team and should have a flexible approach to working. Training, where necessary, will be provided for the right candidate who is willing to demonstrate a flexible approach and a high standard of workmanship, in a developing environment designed to meet our customer expectations. A good understanding of Health and Safety at Work legislation is also required. A flexible approach to work and duties is essential along with good leadership and motivational skills.
The post is safety critical and will involve shift and weekend working and is subject to an occupational medical and drug and alcohol screening. As a rail operating company the majority of the work we undertake is outside and candidates should expect to work outside in all weather conditions.
