Freightliner met with the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) trust this week to donate £1,000 as part of an employee charity scheme.
The scheme which is run every year through Freightliner’s internal magazine gives employees the chance to nominate charities they wish to receive £1,000.
The CF trust is the UK’s only national charity dedicated to all aspects of Cystic Fibrosis. The trust researches to treat and cure CF and aims to ensure clinical care and support for people with Cystic Fibrosis and their families.
Robert Neep, Maersk Activity Manager, for Freightliner Limited who is based in Birmingham, nominated the charity through the scheme. The cheque presentation follows Robert successfully completing the "Welsh Three Thousands Challenge" last week. The challenge involved summiting all the fifteen mountain peaks of Wales that are 3000ft or above within 24 hrs. The route runs for 30 miles and involves nearly 12,000ft of ascent. All sponsorship for the challenge went to the CF trust.
Robert said, "I nominated the CF trust as my son Edward has Cystic Fibrosis. The breakthrough gene replacement therapy currently being pioneered by the CF trust could improve long term health prospects for him and thousands other CF sufferers around the world."
Martine Grainger from the Cystic Fibrosis trust commented on the donation: " The Cystic Fibrosis Trust really appreciates all that Robert has done to raise much-needed funds. There is no doubt that if we didn’t have such dedicated people working with us we would not be able to give those suffering from CF hope of a much brighter future. Thank you to Freightliner Group for being so generous to their employees charity, the £3,000 raised by Robert and Freightliner will certainly make a difference to those living with CF. Thank you."
