Part of Freightliner's mission is to raise awareness of our campaign to transport more freight by rail.

Freightliner is also a member of several organisations including; Rail Freight Group, Freight on Rail, European Rail Freight Association and Freight Transport Association.

Freight on Rail

Freight on Rail is a campaigning group working to get goods off the UK’s congested roads and onto the rail network.

It consists of a partnership between rail unions, rail freight operating companies, the Rail Freight Group, Network Rail and Campaign for Better Transport.

The group works throughout the United Kingdom to promote the economic, social and environmental benefits of rail freight. It advocates policy changes that support the shift to rail from road and provides information and help on freight related issues. In particular it aims to help local authorities through all the stages of planning a rail freight strategy, accessing grants and dealing with technical matters.

Rail Freight Group

RFG's aim is to promote cost effective rail solutions for freight. RFG works hard in the interests of its members; to represent their views and provide a wide range of advice and information.

The Rail Freight Group (RFG) has over 150 member companies, ranging from Maersk, the world’s largest container shipping line, to high street retailer Marks & Spencer and including rail freight customers, logistics providers, suppliers, terminal operators, ports, transport consultants, legal firms and all freight train operating companies.

Real choice across modes is key to meeting the transport challenges faced by businesses in the 21st century and the RFG’s aim is to promote cost effective rail solutions for freight. Freightliner is a member of RFG and sits on their Board and Policy Group.

Freight Transport Association (FTA)

The FTA represents the transport interests of companies moving goods by road, rail, sea and air.

FTA members operate over 200,000 goods vehicles - almost half the UK fleet. In addition, they consign over 90 per cent of the freight moved by rail and over 70 per cent of sea and air freight.

European Rail Freight Association (ERFA)

The European Rail Freight Association represents rail freight operators and shippers throughout the EU.

ERFA’s aim is to achieve genuine intermodel competition by rail by eliminating any material or legal barriers and disadvantages preventing or hindering operators from building up and/or providing international rail freight services. Freightliner is a member of the ERFA Board.
